This Newt crap is ridiculous. He is a scumbag and has aspirations to make a run at the White House. The Dems that keep getting mentioned in an attempt at false equivalency are either dead or out of office.

Exactly. Republicans have two choices now: “refudiate” the craziness in their midst OR defend it all in the hopes that the Nov. midterms will lead the party back to health. Many of the conservative commenters here have chosen the former, but some still stick with the latter.

What they don’t understand is that there’s no long term future for the gop in bashing gays, Muslims and immigrants. Not in a country that’s diversifying demographically at such a high rate as we now are. The gop will have to adapt in the coming decades or become a regional party of really angry white evangelicals.
