Oh, yes, I’m certainly familiar with the tactic. I’ve heard many sermons preached about politics from a variety of pulpits. And, in some circles, it is verboten to question the minister’s declarations or any church teachings. It’s tantamount to heresy to ask or entertain any questions. In those environments, I see one of two things happening. Either a person’s faith will die or his/her critical thinking ability will die. It’s terribly sad when a person allows someone else to do all of the thinking for them. (I suppose that’s the appeal for some - they don’t have to think because it’s all laid out plainly for them.)
