re: #429 Walter L. Newton

I find the “scrooge” and “intimidation” style of retail management to be odd, that’s all. I can certainly understand why I find so many employees, who do a really good job, but couldn’t care less about anything else than coming into work, doing what they are expected to do, and then going home. Any feelings of belonging, of working in unison to improve the company, a real corporate loyalty, none of that… the mentality of management itself keeps most of the employees from caring much at all.

Long story short:

I left my old company (the Evil Empire) last year. Primary reason was other key guy in our office was royal douchebag, following ‘intimidation/BS’ style of management. I told owner, he said he wouldn’t hire a shrink so we needed to find a way to get a long… I quit 3 months later.

Few days ago, a buddy still there is lamenting to me about what a douchebag he is, on Skype.

My buddy had just got a new laptop, old laptop turned in. Forgot to delete Skype password.

Douche is watching his Skype on his old laptop for a month. Buddy was wondering why Douche would say all the right things after he vented with other people.

Douche sent our chat to the owner.

Needless to say, Douche is about to have a mutiny on his hands because all the boys hate him. This event is just gas on the fire. If he doesn’t get fired, the damage is done.

The best part about it? In my Skype I told my buddy “I feel for you but there’s not a lot I can do. Honestly, as much as the fucker deserves some karma, he’s good for my business. Clients hate him and drive business to me. So I want him to continue working there.”
