On that score, I do agree with you. This is an imperfect apology.

I just don’t think a US President should apologize for something which was done before he (and everyone else living) was born, and/or something for which only some Americans believe was wrong to do in the first place, and which fall along controversial party lines.

He can give his opinion it was wrong all day, but you can only apologize for your own garbage.

Yes, every president has his own garbage. Do you agree it was a double standard that President Bush never apologized for his garbage, unlike the other presidents during my lifetime, and was even praised by his supporters for not doing so?

If so, we’ll be good to go, and I’ll be out of your hair on this subject. :)
