re: #441 Walter L. Newton

Since I haven’t been in retail all my life, I don’t know if ALL retail operates like Kroger, but I only have Kroger to go by. Oh, I worked some short term retail jobs off and on over the years, but only as transition jobs, never for more than a few weeks.

But this is the first long term retail job I’ve had, and from what I hear “in the business,” Kroger follows the old fashioned top down ivory tower business model, with a bunch of MBA’s running the show.

Non-management employees have NO means of communicating anything to upper management in some sort of organized fashion.

I’ll have been with the company a year, as of March 31st, and I have yet to see a single meeting of employees and management for any reason.

That’s just odd.

The thing that bothered me about the last couple of retail jobs I applied for is the questionnaires and their obsession with theft.

Like if I was going to boost your stuff I would answer questions in a way that indicated it? Good grief. You haven’t even HIRED me yet, and already you think I’m a thief.
