That’ll never fly. The banks will yell, consumer groups will scream, and to top it off it would be a tax increase. No Republican could vote for it, not even Scott Brown.

Banks screaming matters.

Consumer groups, not so much. (Not that they would: I am not so sure about that.)

But the fact that the same guys that blew up our economy can still speak with authority in Congress and pretty much get what they want says all you need to know about how politics works in the USA.
