While this is true, it’s not for the reasons they think. It’s not that we’re afraid if she runs, she’ll be so popular with the electorate that they’ll elect her. That ship sailed right around October 2008 and has since disappeared beyond the horizon.

No, we fear the “Black Swan” event, where she gets elected because the Dem nominee turns out to have a John Edwards-level scandal AFTER the convention.

To conservatives, pissing off liberals means more than actually getting shit done which frankly is the core of everything that’s wrong with modern conservatism. The other problem with modern conservatism is how increasingly anti-intellectual it’s become. I still remember Santorum calling President Obama a “snob” for thinking all American children should get some form of higher education beyond high school. That doesn’t even get me started on how Darwin is syonamous with Hitler in many conservative circles rather than being seen as being like a Gailleo or Newton.
