I grew up in rural Northern California. First job: Running steers for a team-roping arena. Second job: cleaning horse stalls. Favorite job: the few years I spent working for a bee-keeper. I grew up believing deer season was any time nobody was around to see…and yes, we ate everything we killed.

Of course, I turned into a tree-hugging liberal in college, but I still know where I came from.

And guns don’t kill people. Assholes kill people (sometimes with guns).
