I’m always conflicted by stuff like this because it actually works. If you force smaller portion sizes, people actually eat less. But it’s so ham-handed, and it gins up so much resentment, I don’t think it it’s worth it.

Education, on the other hand, has much less of an impact, and is basically in competition with advertising, which gets to cheat.

I don’t have any actual solution. I don’t think the ban is a good idea, because it’s attacking a symptom and not a cause, but the cause is very problematic too; I think a lot of the problems in the US stem from advertising, which is a whole free speech issue.
