The flip side is that until this law passed, the cops here in Texas could arrest you (meaning black people) for having a long stick that they could decide was a martial arts weapon. If you practiced martial arts, you had to make sure your equipment was out of reach in your car or you could be arrested. So, really, the title should read “you can no longer get in trouble for things that aren’t as lethal as a gun.”

But they can still kill you at will for being black in a “threatening” way.
