The Jesus Puzzle isn’t a novel. However, Doherty makes his argument in a much more scholarly fashion on his Web site. He was published in the Journal of Higher Criticism.

I take that back…Doherty did write a novel also titled The Jesus Puzzle, but his book The Jesus Puzzle: Did Christianity Begin With a Mythical Christ? is not a novel, but a straightforward presentation of his thesis.
