I keep hearing stories like that. I really don’t know what’s going on in Catholic communities all over this country. I spent a large part of my childhood in Portugal, where I was never taught that sort of hair-raising stuff.

The Irish have issues with sex. I say this ruefully, as the daughter of an Irish Catholic. We had an unfortunately large influence on the Church in America.

We’re great on service and social justice, and partying. Bad on sexual matter.
