The religious right really is into this stuff.

For example, over on the Salem Communication’s Townhall website, they are featuring this article:

Which Babies Should Get the Death Sentence?

Again, the problem is the underlying mind-body dualism. According to creationists (of all stripes), once the spermatozoa has delivered its DNA contents into the ovum, something magickal (from an extra dimension?) also enters the ovum, and voila that complete set of DNA inside that cell wall is a “person”.

I can’t over-stress that this indeed is the foundational problem here.

This is why Christine O’Donnell ranted about that amazing mouse with a human brain, as Maddow reminds us, without having a clue about that of which she spoke.

They really don’t understand basic biology.

In fact, they actively oppose the science of biology.

Putting DNA inside a cell does not make a “person”. Genetic engineering is done around the world and is not done on H. sapiens purely for cultural, not biological, reasons.

The core issue is one of an ancient worldview, based on fantasickal magick, which is long overdue to pass away.

Would you PLEASE stop stealing my ideas and expressing them more eloquently than I can?

I’ve made several comments about mind-body dualism here to a resounding Meh!.
