The problem with these NYT articles is they never challenge the people in these small towns and diners on their conceptions. They don’t point out that Trump did plenty of outsourcing himself as a businessman. They don’t point out that the mines were on their decline years ago when my grandfather was a young man. No, they instead let these people live in fantasyland where liberalism is resposible for why they lost their jobs and why it’s perfectly okay to act like their mythological past actually existed.
