That’s not surprising at all. The networks are just catering to an advertiser.
It’s more than that. One change that has occurred, again a quantitative and not qualitative change, is that newspapers are a lot poorer. They are not bringing in revenues anything like that they used to, so they tend to copy reporting a lot more. Either through sourcing, or taking press releases and working them over a little bit, or outright plagiarism, they’re cutting corners on investigative reporting. A lot of what you see in the newspapers started out as a corporate press release.
