The Skyraider’s big claim to fame was being a bomb truck that could stay on station for extended periods. The A-10’s a dedicated tank killer than can use its GAU-8 to open them like tin cans, light them up with Maverick missiles, or drop JDAMs down atop their heads. Not to mention that it can fly home with more holes through it than a screen door and without hydraulics to control it.

Yeah, but the A-10 won’t get a chance to use its Avenger in Libya. The Air Force won’t let A-10s go low enough to use it. They don’t want to lose a pilot, since that would cause political damage (or at least it is thought that it would).
