I feel the same way. I DO donate to charitable causes but I don’t always donate money, sometimes I donate my time to local organizations. If I do donate money, I give it to groups where I KNOW it’s being used directly to help people and not to pay the salary of some “Executive director”.

The local Domestic Violence shelter and Sexual Assault center for which I volunteer depends on their partnership with the United Way. As does Planned Parenthood.

GOP in Illinois (now with their governor) is proposed cutting even more funding for VAWA related agencies.
