I respectfully disagree. The GOP is full of corrupt whackadoodles. I think Christie has every bit as much a shot as any other loon the GOP could put forward, even with Bridgeghazi hanging around his neck. After all, it’s that sort of stupidity that the right wing absolutely adores.

Christie only ever had as a possible path a unification of what passes for moderate GOP primary voters. He could blow the fucking bridge up entirely and it still wouldn’t make him more than tepidly palatable to the truly far right. He’s got too many examples of being vaguely sane and rational. Those won’t go away; he has a much tougher path than Romney did.
