Yeah. On the serious side “he with the most expensive 3d and rendering program wins.” Throw in a hot rod computer and it’s an even easier win. Right now the computer “art” world is dominated by a bunch of well off people. Plus all you see these days is photoreal rendering work with a few non-photoreal. And a lot of people will use components to create scenes. Not really that creative. It’s all about machines, software, and pushing the right buttons.

Yeah you definitely need a powerful pc/mac (preferably several) to do anything involving any kind of scale or finesse these days in 3D. Mostly I think using components is all about getting the job done in time when tight-fisted clients demand a lot in a very short space of time fot not a lot of money. They get the quality/creativity they pay for. Of course it can also be lazy ass artists who don’t care about anything beyond the paycheck.
