McCain drove me batty with his on-again/off-again maverickyness, and the fact that he gave Sarah Palin a national platform. But I always respected his service. Now, I’m thinking about how so many folks, on the left and the right, are so saddened by his passing. And I think about how when Trump dies, there will be nothing even remotely like this outpouring of love and respect.
