This will make for a big salvage job, or a total write off for one reactor, I”m not sure which. The sad thing is that this plant is very old style, and newer plants would not have had this problem —e.g. the new Westinghouse AP 1000 reactors use passive systems if power fails.

Total write off, fuel recovery and entombment. You can’t flood a reactor vessel with salt water and expect to ever use it again, the metal parts inside will start corroding immediately. That reactor is a done deal.
