I read Sanders as saying “overcame racism [this one time] and elected…”. Not “forever”. This may be just my bias speaking of course.

There are ways to parse Sanders’ statement that may make it somewhat less objectionable. That simply isn’t good enough for prime time.

He needs to do much better on identity issues, since they are just as important in US politics as economic issues.

I’m starting to get irritated with Sanders because the way he pushes economic issues at the expense of other issues will be counter-productive.
