I genuinely think the government ID system is purpose designed to fuck over women and transpersons. There’s no fucking reason that the courts can’t coordinate with birth certificate issuing authorities, allowing them to keep track of all changes instead of forcing people to keep additional docs.

For the life of me I can see no reason for requiring a Social Security card (that’s a separate requirement all on its own). WTF does that prove? You have a piece of cardboard…big whoop.

oh wait.. it’s not the same name as on your certified birth certificate…
