Sounds like an interesting setting for a Battlefleet Gothic engagement, or an infantry battle, with the Space marines boarding the hulk, only to find their Chaos Marine opposite numbers already there.

They got a whole offshoot game based on them, plus they’ve published optional rules in the regular game.
