They’re not Nazis and they’re not the Klan.

This is not because they’re not racists, nationalists, or what have you. It’s because they remain, at the moment, a vicious, unpleasant, but non-lynching, non-invading body in the U.S. body politics.

I oppose them politically because I think their political ideas suck.

I oppose them socially because they’re idiots.

But the Klan actively killed people. Black men sat awake all night, preparing to die defending themselves and their families if they saw them coming down the road. The Klan controlled people’s lives. The Klan lynched and burned and terrorized.

The Tea Party is being pissy and racist about the President. It’s not the same thing, no matter how annoying they may be.
