General rule in epidemiology is that the faster that a disease burns out its victim, the slower the spread and the worse the odds are of a widespread outbreak. Ebola can lay dormant for weeks, but it generally kills in a matter of days or hours, and it is only truly infectious in that time period. And unless the victim’s body is handled without protection against bodily fluids, then the virus can’t spread.

Makes sense. Any organism that destroys its food source and/or breeding ground before it spreads is a failure in evolutionary terms.

I’m now wondering if that makes humanity a failure at the rate we’re destroying the world we live in.
