I took a second class train from Calexico to Guadalajara; 3 days. (First class was one day. We missed it.)

Also took the night train from Moscow to St.Petersburg and back. And rode 3rd class from Moscow to Serafimovich in the middle of the Don steppes about 120 NW of Volgagrad.

3rd class is no compartments, just open triple-tier bunks with stocking feet of sleeping travelers hanging in your face as you make your way past…
