I agree with your entire statement except for the word ‘urban’. I think that most of these gun fetishists are suburban and ex-urban. Seems like the places that you see them out in public aren’t really urban (other than the ‘grassy knoll’ event in Dallas). They live in the conservative, white-flight donuts that surround cities where most of the bat-shit insane legislators come from.
