This hearing’s more for the benefit of their “campaign contributors” in the natural gas industry than it is anything else. Especially by putting it behind closed doors, as the industry’s been asserting for years (backed up by the previous administration’s love of playing footsie with the fossil fuel boys) that the stuff in fraking fluid is a “trade secret” that simply can’t get out. The reality is that, due to shoddy cement work, this shit is turning up in local drinking water supplies and they’re looking at years of litigation if it can be proven that fraking fluid is the culprit.

Right. And since it’s a “trade secret” they can’t reveal the chemical make-up. Strange but true in their little Randian world-view.
