This issue will never be allowed to be put to rest.

It has become an industry. Too many people profit from it.

In my school district, there’s a big contingent of teachers who perpetuate certain language positions on the K-level immigrant students, in order to keep themselves employed. On their own, the kids are perfectly capable of picking up English in about a month.
