re: #39 Testy Toad T

I think I’d rather the GOP destroy itself by action rather than inaction. It would be nice if their elected officials showed principles that were not my own, rather than none at all. I know how to reason with somebody who thinks different things than I do, rather than someone who apparently does not think at all.

And I think active destruction would allow some sort of rump leaders to emerge from the wreckage and perhaps tempt some erstwhile Blue Dogs and at least start to form some sort of rump small-c conservative party that would provide a useful counterweight in the short term and maybe evolve into a useful second voice and Loyal Opposition in the long term.

But beggars can’t be choosers.

I respectfully disagree that we need a small-c conservative party. The Democratic party covers everything from center-right to…well, more to the right. The GOP is essentially the Neoconfederate Party now, and remember—the CSA was a single-party state. I have no problem with the USA being the same, at least for awhile.

What we really need is a center-left party to balance the Democrats. If the Berners had two brain cells between the lot of them, they could be the nucleus of that, but obviously they don’t.
