I was too broke to go.

My wife’s student loans for her degrees weren’t fully paid off until well after we married. (It seems I’ve helped pay the student loans of two women but never got to go to college myself. This seems wrong somehow. //s)

Barack Obama graduated Law School in 1992. Michelle was a few years ahead of him. They paid off their student loans when Dreams From My Father became a bestseller, in 2005.
