You’re right about independents not caring, and repubs aren’t going to cross over and vote dem, so who are they afraid of alienating right before the elections?

Hm…too many fuckin’ blue-dogs in the party, I suppose. But I’m not calling for purifying the Democratic party of its conservatives…we see how that’s been working with the GOP and its moderates.

The sad fact is that the two parties we have are so damn close (center-right?) that you can’t tell them apart except on a few issues.

Just vote on it. Get DADT replaced with a simple, “gays and everyone else who wants to join the military are welcome.” and let the media have their two week circle-jerk of panic about it, and by the middle of May, it will be accepted as part of US history and a complete non-issue by November.
