re: #496 Escaped Hillbilly

You don’t have to check his video, the story has been featured in the Army Times and Stars and STripes. Again, alleged crime. And all she had to do was report it to the proper authorities, which she eventually did. How is a new law going to change anything? Rape has been illegal for a long time. Preventing someone from going to the police has been illegal for a long time. KBR did not rape her. Some of it’s employees allegedly did. And the guy who cleaned our toilets was not a “mercenary”. Most of those guys are just working stiffs trying to pay their bills and willing to do it in an environment that is decidely inhospitable. Please stop characterizing them this way.

Wow. So she made the whole thing up. The rape and the fact that she wasn’t allowed to prosecute it. That’s what you think?

The woman was gang raped by Halliburton employees and locked in a shipping crate to prevent her from immediately reporting it. It occurred outside of US criminal jurisdiction, Iraq, even while working for an American company. Her employment contract, what Franken and others were fighting against, prevented her from a PUBLIC trial, only to be settled in private arbitration where Halliburton has the favor.

Even if you think this woman is a liar, these stipulations in an employment contract are despicable (possibly unconstitutional) and should not be the practice of any American run corporation. Oh yea, it’s Halliburton.
