re: #508 Gus 802
I didn’t speak from experience but from people I’ve talked with.
Not their fault?
• Savings and Loan Scandal
• ENRON
• Housing Bubble (Fannie/Freddie/AIG/Bear Stearns et al)That’s a very short list.
If you put all your retirement savings in Enron, or hell, I don’t care, if you put it all into cocoa futures, and you lost a bundle, it is your fault. You didn’t spread your risk. It’s Enron’s fault that you lost money, if you had some with Enron, but a lot of the fault is yours if you lost it all.
If you bought an upscale house at a super upscale price and figured that yeah, you can’t cover the payments but that big raise is sure to materialize shortly and if it doesn’t you can always sell at a profit, you were a living walking example of pride going before a fall.
If you kept your savings in an S&L that failed, you got them back. That’s the whole point of FDIC.
Your list fails, fails, and fails. Since it was short, I assume you took your best shot.
