The Whigs don’t look to have any solution besides “we’ll let the states decide”, and, see, historically, some states had kind of a problem deciding about the civil liberties thing.

Yes, the big dilemna. We need States Rights as a counter or check to Federal Control. It’s part of our divestment of power —makes life really difficult for tyrants. Yet, not everything we want to be equal is equal when left to State’s Rights.

Education and voting rights are two of the most blatant I can remember.
