Interesting comments on the Cash for Clunkers fiasco. we considered it…we needed to get a new/newer car anyway and thought, “wow, $4500 for it is a great deal”. What I haven’t seen explained is this. How do you know that the “new” car price isn’t negotiated “less” than it would have been since they know they are giving you more than the value for the trade in? (even tho they get the cash back from the gov. (taxpayers).

You have to know the actual cost of the car to the dealer, and you can find that on the web. This link is excellent, it tells you sticker, dealer invoice, actual dead cost, and even what others are paying. link…
