If I’m not mistaken, Black Bear have been sighted in the upper reaches of Rock Creek Park (not in the city, AFAIK). I’ve got some 12 ga. rifled slugs on hand just in case they come into town and get too frisky.

I, personally have seen coyote in RC Park, as well as fox, owls, and the more mundane raccoon, opossums, and (of course) a bizillion white tailed deer. That’s something I love about this city.

The dumpsters outside my apartment have been frequented by raccoon, opossums & even vultures - very creepy looking birds!
