One of the most important history classes I took as an undergrad (I was a history major FTR) was a class on Latin American history. Not surprisingly, Mexico got a heavy focus.

My undergrad degree is in International Business and we had to pick a regional focus (Europe, Asia, etc.). I chose Latin America, primarily because I could test out of the Spanish requirements and also, I’m Mexican-American. I figured it would be a great way to learn more history than I knew.

Best class I ever took was my History of Mexico class. That was awesome. You can almost draw straight lines from the bribes and shit the Spanish bureaucrats were doing back in the mercantile days to the current bribery and graft in Mexico.
