And that’s what had me pulling out clumps of hair, that they were lavishing praise on what amounted to a joke, a loose collection of ideals that he’d super-glued together and gotten his party to pass when the previous year, it hadn’t even made it to a committee vote. Any budget that talks mightily about tackling the deficit or debt, but ignores defense and tax cuts, is not “bold” or “serious.”

Exactly. The only thing bold about is that he expects us to take him seriously on this. Heck Ryan not only doesn’t want to cut the defense budget, he wants to increase it. Really he doesn’t deserve the deficit hawk title he’s earned due to the Ryan budget. A real deficit hawk would consider cutting defense and raising taxes if he felt it was necessary to reach a balanced budget. Ryan’s nothing but a fraud who wants the middle and working classes to just be hit by his plan and to take it while he and his rich buddies not only enjoy the status quo but get better deals. It’s a load of oligarchical bullshit posing as serious policy.
