re: #515 Occasional Reader

If I’m not mistaken, Black Bear have been sighted in the upper reaches of Rock Creek Park (not in the city, AFAIK). I’ve got some 12 ga. rifled slugs on hand just in case they come into town and get too frisky.

I, personally have seen coyote in RC Park, as well as fox, owls, and the more mundane raccoon, opossums, and (of course) a bizillion white tailed deer. That’s something I love about this city.

There’s a lot of white-tailed dears on Dupont Circle.

And as a side not, that Metro station there is REALLY far underground and that escalator there is enough to make you sick to your stomach.

I rode that a few times when I was in town for the DOE. You can get into the middle of that escalator and you cannot see either end and the vertigo is dangerous IMHO.
