Watching the Press Conference. One thing stands out.

The on-scene commander (I presume the CO of the Bainbridge) used his authority under the Standing Rules of Engagement (SROE) to effect the rescue.

There was no order from Obama. There was not even an order from CENTCOM, 5th Fleet (COMUSNACENT), DESRON 50, or anyone in the chain-of-command above the on-scene commander.

Wow. THAT TOOK BALLS.

Well then, was Obama in the loop, or not?
