Dzhokhar Tsarnaev update: he says they were not connected to a terrorist group, and they got the instructions for the bombs on the Internet.

That should be pretty unsurprising, considering they only managed to kill 1.5 people per bomb. That certainly doesn’t mitigate anything they did, and it’s no consolation to the dead and maimed, but a quick glance at the news from Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq shows that experienced/trained bombers usually don’t leave single-digit body counts.
