And yet, if he had taken an alternative tack on addressing issues from his past - like admitting “Yeah, I was a drunken fuckup when I was a young kid, but I grew up and got over it, and I’m sorry for my past messes, and hope to go on with my life of public service as it is today…”, he’d probably be at a fitting for his SCOTUS robe today.

But NOOOO! The asshole had to try to hide shit from his past (or get his SJC enablers to hide it for him); take the BS “I was a teetotalling virgin all through HS and college” line; blow up in an angry rage of blame-shifting - in public - when called on it, and now: having to blatantly rely on strongarm politics to get his seat, tainted by blatant interference from the White House (who want him so badly mainly because they feel he will reliably rule to shield them from criminal liability for their, well, criminality).
