I have some sympathy for the difficulty in responding when you are asked certain yes or no questions; for example, “Have you stopped beating your wife?” Situations are often more complex than an apparently straightforward question allows. That said, Kirstjen Nielsen really does present herself as someone who would have been quite comfortable in working under Vidkun Quisling, the traitor who ran Norway under the Nazis.

Nielsen knew that the question was coming about who was in custody, the number of children separated, and what happened to those children, and whether all those children were reunited with their parents.

She blew the answers in the worst way, and the reality is that Trump and Nielsen broke multiple laws and court orders in the process. Her resignation should be demanded, followed by Trump’s given the nature of the crime. Arguably DHS policy is to engage in human trafficking.

Where are the 471 children and why aren’t they being reunited with their parents.

If anyone is not reunited with their parents after this debacle, and we learn instead that they were shuffled through into foster care via Bethany Christian Services (which has ties to DeVos), there should be hell to pay and then some. There’s so much self dealing and personal aggrandizement in Trumpworld that it should shock people to the core, except it’s so widespread that far too many have become numb to it all.
