It’s possible that the rule extending background checks might make it to the House floor for consideration. It might even pass.
But I don’t see the AWB being picked up in the House beyond committee.
From a safety standpoint, the background check rule would prevent more crime than the AWB - though AWBs make up a substantial portion of these mass casualty attacks.
Closing loopholes and increasing enforcement/prosecutions would improve public safety and realistically shouldn’t be the kind of issue that is all that controversial, but for the guy proposing it.
