The big problem that was revealed in 2008 is that the only person that ever verifies the qualifications of a presidential candidate is a chosen representative of the candidate’s political party who submits a declaration.

But it’s not just presidential candidates. Any candidate for any office does nothing more than submit a declaration saying they are qualified, and it is deemed to be so. The only way to disqualify such a candidate that I know of is to submit proof positive to the Sec of State, but since most relevant information is not available to the public, you’re just SOL.

Shouldn’t someone, somewhere in the process, who is not associated with the candidate, simply verify their eligibility? If not in the primary then at least in the general?

would you prefer we toss the POTUS out of office and start over?…would that be a rational, sane, healthy for the country thing to do?
