Huntsman won’t get anywhere in the current GOP. He’d have to spend the entire primary season explaining why he resigned as governor of Utah to work with the Seekrit Kenyan Mooslim Commie Overlord. And Romney isn’t trusted for far more reasons than just health care.

Beyond that, both men are Mormons. Evangelicals won’t vote for anyone they consider as part of a cult that’s a half-step above Satanism.

I’m almost of the opinion now that Romney and Huntsman are running as a means of giving the rest of the pack some level of cover, “beards” as it were. There’s not there because they have a serious chance at the nomination, they’re there to serve as counters to arguments that the GOP’s candidate pool is wall-to-wall crazy.
