I think part of the reason Georgia takes such pride in these programs is because of FDR and the facility created in Warm Springs GA which was one of the first of it’s kind,at least in the South. Cave Springs is a smaller facility,but both come with lots of good recommendations. It’s ironic,FDR is often demonized in GA,but when it comes to this stuff you don’t hear much from the right wing against it. I wish they felt the same way about cutting special education programs in the public schools. Without my son’s IEP caseworker in high school we never would have heard about this stuff. I may have found it on my own,but it would have been way more difficult to get him into the program without other educators pulling for him.
