Meh. I do remember valentines day sucking for the really poor kids in my class, mostly the farm kids, when I was very young. They mostly had hand-made-on-construction paper cards that were nice but the class divide showed clearly.

I don’t think banning them is a good idea— kids are going to pick up on class no matter what— but I understand not wanting to have yet another opportunity for the poor kids to get humiliated.
